Examples of Recent Efforts
Environment and Sector Leadership
We actively participate in several leadership efforts where environment, development, government and community intersect. We have convened symposia for American Society of Engineers conferences, National Council on Science and Environment, Resilience Conferences Virginia Tech, and we've been invited to be part of the leadership teams for e.g. United Nations Nature-Based Solutions, Geneva; Global Risk Forum, Davos, Switzerland; and UN Disaster Risk Reduction (various) including delegation to Sendai Agreement (Japan).
In March 2019, we will participate in the Economist Sustainability Summit (London). Dr. Deborah Brosnan will give the keynote presentation at the 25th anniversary of Ecological Design Conference (Oregon). Her recent book "The Disaster Resiliency Challenge" edited by Dr. James Bohland, Dr. Jack Harrald, and Dr. Deborah Brosnan, combines the experiences of social science, engineer and environmental scientist to explore this topic from an intellectual and practical viewpoint.
